Question of the Day, November 26, 2007

While traveling over the river and through the woods (literally) to grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving, we had to pull over and put our luggage etc. into plastic bags because it was getting rained on in the back of our truck. After climbing back into the warm cozy cab and getting back on the road, I happened to look down and see a giant spider crawling on my arm. It was about the size of a silver dollar and blond in color. Naturally, I screamed. Because I was driving, I could not freak out in the classic whole-body spasm that you would expect. So, I screamed again. Vicki can see the spider, and how large and menacing it was, but did she offer to help? Noooooooo. She and the girls were too busy laughing hysterically at me. If I weren’t driving, I would have been in Vicki’s lap at this point, but I was driving, so all I could do was scream for a third time. After the third scream, I collected myself, got my window down, and flicked the spider out into oncoming traffic.
My question is: Was I a sissy for screaming like a little girl, or was I a hero for keeping my wits enough to keep the truck on the road during this traumatic incident?

I say hero, but I sure wish I could have been there to take part in the laughing!
(This must be the story that we were all supposed to hear on Saturday...eh, Vicki?)
HERO ~ I would have spasmed, swerved, and injured all in the car (except probably the spider)!
You were definitely a hero Babe! However, it was SO FUNNY!!! After all these years I know the "there is a bug on me" scream and I was laughing before I saw it was a spider. Thanks for the new story to share. (Hee Hee)
Yes Susie, this was the story I was going to tell on Saturday.
This is too funny!! Thank you for sharing. Your always the hero cause you got really great stories. I'm with Susie, I totally wish I could have been there to share in the laughing, but sitting in the sidelines from this view is pretty funny too!
Ask Keith to share the Brown Recluse spider story. Now THAT was scary. eeeewwww!
i totally say sissy but only because everyone else says hero. someone has to go against the norm.
